International Education Week 2025 (IEW25)

The Art of the Ink on Bookmark

Discover the beauty of calligraphy at The Art of the Ink on Bookmark! Participants will have their names written in calligraphy on a bookmark. This event will introduce participants to the elegance of calligraphy, offering an interactive way to learn more about these art forms. This event is hosted by the East Asian Studies and International Trade and Center for International Education Services.

Beat Making Experience

Join the African Student Association at this year’s International DIY Event for an electrifying Beat Making session! Dive into the vibrant rhythms and rich musical heritage of Africa as we guide you through the creative process of crafting your own unique beats. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned music lover, this hands-on experience will introduce you to essential beat-making tools, techniques, and cultural influences that shape modern African sound.

Chinese Traditional Painting

Join us for a hands-on workshop introducing the art of Chinese traditional painting! Experience traditional brush techniques, explore ink and watercolor styles, and learn the cultural stories behind each stroke. Participants will have the opportunity to create their own artwork under the guidance of an instructor. Japanese Origami

Origami is the traditional Japanese art of paper folding, most famously, the crane (orizuru), a symbol of peace and hope. Rooted in centuries of cultural tradition, origami is more than just a craft; it’s a meaningful practice often used to express good wishes, celebrate milestones, and foster mindfulness. Join us to learn how to fold your own crane and explore the beauty and symbolism behind this timeless art form. This event is hosted by the Center for International Education Services.

Bangladesh Block Printing on Fabric

Bangladesh has a rich tradition of wood block printing on fabric, a centuries-old technique where skilled artisans use hand-carved wooden blocks to press intricate designs onto cloth. The designs often telling cultural stories. This event is hosted by the Center for International Education Services.

Indian Rangoli

Rangoli is an ancient Indian art form created using colored powders, rice flour, or flower petals. Traditionally, it is drawn at the entrance of homes and temples during festivals and celebrations to welcome guests and deities, symbolizing happiness, positivity, and prosperity. The word Rangoli itself comes from Sanskrit “Rang” meaning color and “Aavalli” meaning rows or patterns of colors. This event is hosted by Hindu Student Organization and the Center for International Education Services.

Best International Rice

Join us for a flavorful experience on delicious rice dishes from around the world, Chinese Fried Rice, Jollof Rice, and Biryani. Taste, enjoy, and cast your vote for your favorite! This event is hosted by the Center for International Education Services and Housing and Residence Life.
