Step 3. Find the Right Internship Experience
Find the right internship opportunity for you!
- Applicants who have already secured an internship: Eligible applicants who have already been offered an internship position must have the internship host organization and the internship position description approved.
-
- Students should submit the internship information (position, supervisor's name, organization name, phone number, and email) to Cory
Major (cmajor@memphis.edu).
- Once the organization and position description have been approved, the student will be recommended for MHIP funding and will be directed to complete the pre-internship checklist.
- Students should submit the internship information (position, supervisor's name, organization name, phone number, and email) to Cory

- Applicants seeking an internship: Several resources are available to applicants who have not secured an internship position.
-
- Pre-Approved Internship Positions. Available internship positions are posted in TigerLink. Students can view available
opportunities on the MHIP website and access full position descriptions through TigerLink,
which includes information on how to apply for the position. The Office of Career
Services can assist prospective interns in navigating this process.
- Internship Exchange. During the fall and spring semesters, MHIP and Career Services will host the Internship
Exchange. All prospective interns are encouraged to attend the event, where they will
have the opportunity to network with potential host organizations and complete on-site
interviews.
- Individual Search Process: Departmental Internship Coordinators and the Office of Career Services will provide individual support to prospective interns who wish. Step 4. Accept Internship/Notify Us
Once an internship has been offered, students must formally accept the position and then notify the MHIP that they have accepted the internship. If this position has not already been approved by MHIP, students must submit the internship information (position, supervisor’s name, organization name, phone number, and email) to Cory Major (cmajor@memphis.edu) for review and approval.
Step 5. Complete Pre-Internship Checklist
Attend MHIP Intern Orientation. All students selected to participate in MHIP will be required to attend an Orientation Session. This orientation is designed to help prepare students for their internship experience, ensuring they meet the program’s requirements and expectations.
Intern Agreement Form. Completed during the MHIP Orientation, the Intern Agreement Form outlines the expectations of the intern and the internship site.
Student Employee Contract. Once students have completed the Orientation and signed the Intern Agreement, the College of Arts & Sciences will process a student employment contract for the duration of the internship. This process must be completed before a student can begin their internship, but it will only commence once the intern has completed the Orientation requirement.
