The Relaxation Zone


Feeling overwhelmed or just need a moment to recharge? The Relaxation Zone is a dedicated space on campus designed to help University of Memphis students manage stress, practice self-care, and restore balance in their busy lives.

Explore the science behind our services in the published study: The relaxation zone: Initial analysis of stress management services for university students.

The Relaxation Zone offers a variety of interactive and calming experiences known as “relaxation stations”, including:

  • Massage Chairs
  • Biofeedback Computer Station
  • Stress Relief Coloring
  • Zen Garden Sand Trays
  • Buddha Boards
  • Positivity Board
  • Stress Ball Creation Station
  • Centering Stone Making
  • Sensory Station (UC location only)

All visits are free and available exclusively to currently enrolled University of Memphis students. Check out our video on how to find the RZ!

If it’s your first time, our staff will guide you through a quick overview and introduce you to the relaxation stations. For future visits, just sign in and complete a brief pre- and post-survey.

Hours of Operation

Fall & Spring Semesters

  • Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Wednesdays (UC only): Open until 6:00 PM
  • Brister Hall Closed: Tuesdays & Thursdays (Fall 2025)

Summer Semester

  • Monday–Friday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

🧘‍♀️ The Relaxation Zone reopens on the first day of classes and remains open through the end of exams, unless otherwise noted on our social media.

🌿 Get Your Relax On: Group Program

“Get Your Relax On” is our interactive stress management experience designed for faculty, staff, and student groups at the University of Memphis. This program invites your group to visit the Relaxation Zone for a guided session focused on relaxation, mindfulness, and self-care.

Participants will:

  • Learn basic stress management techniques
  • Engage with our relaxation stations
  • Participate in mindfulness and guided meditation activities

🧘 Zen Zone: Faculty & Staff Breaks
