Showcase your creativity by designing the next English Department T-shirt!
Enter your original t-shirt design in our contest and have your design featured on our 2026 English Department t-shirts, in our department newsletter, on social media, and receive a free t-shirt with your design!
Design Guidelines:
- Design must be visible on navy blue and gray t-shirts
- Design must include space for the ENGL department logo*
- File submissions must be in high resolution and submitted as a .jpg, .png, .ai, or .psd file – image must have a transparent background or able to be made transparent
*A watermarked version of the logo is linked here, but this will be replaced on the winning T shirt with the official ENGL department logo (solid black, solid white, solid blue, whichever color best aligns with the winning design and T shirt color) by the English Department marketing manager.
Eligibility/Entry:
There is no entry fee to submit a design. Only one design submission per contestant. Contestants must be majors, minors, or graduate students in the English Department.
Important Dates:
- Submit your design (1 per contestant): August 25th-September 26th, 2025
- LAST DAY to submit a design *no exceptions*: September 26th, 2025
- Public Voting (on Facebook & Instagram): November 3rd-21st, 2025
- Announcement of contest winner: December 4th, 2025
Fine Print:
By submitting an entry, the artist consents that it is their own original work and that they have all necessary rights and permissions to use any included elements. The English Department marketing manager reserves the right to make adjustments and alterations to the winning entry. The winning artist grants to the University of Memphis English Department the exclusive right to the design, including any modifications thereof, to be used on promotional/marketing and other UofM English Department materials.
Designs will be judged on the following criteria:
- Originality
- Visibility – Is it eye catching and visible from a distance?
- Does it coincide with the mission & vision of the English Department?
- Feasibility – Is it easy to reproduce?

In addition to your artwork, please include your first and last name, email address, phone number, and a description of your inspiration. Make sure your files are named appropriately – please include your name in the file names. Please upload your design submission below.
