dr. nirmalee raddatz named senior editor for the journal of information systems
Dr. Nirmalee Raddatz, associate professor in the Crews School of Accountancy and Ph.D. coordinator, was recently selected as one of two Senior Editors for the Journal of Information Systems (JIS). She will serve alongside Jacob Haislip of Texas Tech University. According to the American Accounting Association, “[Dr. Raddatz] will bring a wealth of experience, scholarly excellence and editorial insight that will serve the journal well.” JIS is recognized as one of the top 12 journals in the accounting field and is rated as an A+ journal in the School of Accountancy (CSOA).
dr. kathy tuberville welcomed new grandson
Dr. Kathy Tuberville, associate professor of teaching in the Department of Management, is thrilled to share that she is the proud grandmother of a beautiful, healthy baby
boy, William “Billy” Paul DeFur. Billy made his grand entrance into the world on July 12 weighing 9 lbs. and 4 oz
at birth. He lives in Brooklyn, NY with his parents, but will hopefully visit Memphis
very soon. Congratulations, Kathy aka “KK!”

dr. emma xu published in the journal of banking & finance
Dr. Emma Xu, assistant professor in the Department of Finance, Insurance and Real Estate, was recently accepted for publication in the Journal of Banking & Finance for her
article titled, “Board gender diversity and equity-based compensation.” To read the

maddie chappelear adopted a new puppy
Madison Chappelear, Marketing and Communications manager, and her husband, Mikey, recently welcomed
a new puppy to their family. Meet Marshall, a fluffy-eared boykin spaniel! He and his big brother, Banks (chocolate boykin spaniel), are a dynamic—and cuddly—duo.

dr. martha robinson re-elected to the links inc.
Dr. Martha Robinson, associate professor of teaching in the Department of Management, was re-elected to serve a second term as the Central Area Foundation Representative
of The Links Incorporated (The Links). As such, she provides leadership for the fundraising efforts for the
entirety of the Central Area, which is comprised of 3,900 influential women who work
as volunteers toward a common vision by engaging organizations and individual partnerships.
Members contribute more than 194,000 documented service hours annually to the community
and provide impactful programming in 72 chapters serving underserved communities throughout
the 17 states. The Links have donated over $1M to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
in addition to a number of global initiatives.
dr. olivia raine’s private chef business won at local food competition
Dr. Olivia Raine, assistant professor of teaching in the Department of Management, owns a small private chef business, Gourmet Ministries LLC. She recently competed
at “Bit of the Sip: Snackdown” event in Oxford, MS. She was named the “Savory Champion” for her spread which included
her famous Jerk Chicken Alfredo, Southern Shrimp & Grits, 4-Cheese Mac & Cheese and
Kale Salad complemented with a Cranberry Peach Balsamic Vinaigrette & Garlic.

Faculty, please consider allowing a member of the Center for Professional Career Development (CPCD) Office to take five minutes of your class time to introduce students to the benefits
of the CPCD. Their team provides workshops that not only support students’ professional
growth—such as résumé building, LinkedIn and interview preparation—but they also cover essential topics like critical thinking, teamwork and ethics,
all of which help students grow academically. To schedule a time for the CPCD staff

fcbe staff volunteer for junior achievement and uofm warm welcome events
Dametria Brooks, administrative associate to Dean Bobby Garrett, and Felicia Roddy Jackson,
Scholarship & Recruitment coordinator, attended the Junior Achievement Appreciation
’25-26 Academic Year Kick-Off event. Additionally, Dametria and Kim Womack, administrative associate for the Departments of MIS and MSCM, participated
in the UofM Warm Welcome event. They were stationed at the Living Learning Residence
Complex where they braved 100-degree heat to ensure that new residents and their parents
had a positive move-in experience. If you are interested in involvement opportunities

As a reminder, all UofM faculty and staff are required to sit for an official headshot.
If you do not yet have a headshot or if you want a new one, please mark your calendars
for Wednesday, September 10 from 11 AM – 1 PM. The photos will be taken in the Administration Building (119A).
You do not need to book an appointment— walk ins will be served.
fir doctoral students and professors accepted for publication in the journal of real estate finance and economics
Finance doctoral students, Jason De Freitas and Fatemah Kamkar, have been accepted for publication in a forthcoming edition of the Journal of Real
Estate Finance and Economics for their paper titled, “The Grass Isn’t Always Greener:
How Crime Influences Property Values Near Urban Greenlines.” They coauthored this piece with FIR professors Dr. Mark Sunderman and Dr. Velma Zahirovic-Herbert. Jason plans to use this paper as a part of his final dissertation.
