Professional Overview
Dr. Julie Cupples brings more than 20 years of nursing experience and over a decade in nursing education, with primary interests in neonatal and pediatric nursing. She has been part of nursing education since 2014 and currently serves as a full-time faculty member in the undergraduate nursing program on the Loewenberg College of Nursing’s Lambuth Campus.
Dr. Cupples teaches a range of undergraduate courses, including Maternal Child Nursing, Maternal Child Nursing Practicum, Foundational Nursing Skills, and Introduction to Professional Nursing. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she serves on the Faculty Affairs Committee and is a faculty advisor for the Student Nurses Association at the Lambuth Campus.
Her professional affiliations include membership in the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, National League for Nursing, Tennessee Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, and the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.
Dr. Cupples earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Murray State University and her Master of Science in Nursing Education (MSN) from the University of Memphis. She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a concentration as a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC).
With 13 years of clinical practice experience in adult acute care, pediatrics, and the neonatal intensive care environment, Dr. Cupples continues to maintain clinical practice as a neonatal intensive care nurse at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital. Her areas of expertise include nursing education, pediatric primary care, and simulation-based learning, where she integrates evidence-based teaching to prepare students for excellence in professional practice.
