UofM SPH Dean Joshi Appears on Channel 3’s Bright Spot News Segment

June 12, 2025 — Dean Ashish Joshi was interviewed by Channel 3’s Quametra Wilborn, about the many successes of the UofM SPH high school public health clubs. Dean Joshi gave the history of how the first public health clubs were started at the Medical District and Crosstown high schools and how the concept has expanded to high schools overseas.

Dean Joshi emphasized how the UofM SPH Model for the public health clubs has been adopted as a standard for educating youth about their individual health, the many careers in the public health industry and how students can be public health ambassadors for fellow students, families, and friends. During the interview, Dean Joshi talked about the recent high school public health club hackathon held at the UofM SPH, which involved more than 90 high school students who shared solutions for public health concerns in their communities.

The full interview was featured July 11, 2025, on the “Bright Spot” segment that airs routinely on WREG-TV’s morning and 6:00 PM broadcasts.
