Dr. Janilza Silveira Silva Joins SPH International Public Health Diplomacy Advisory Group

July 15, 2025 - Janilza Silveira Silva, MD, MPH has joined the University of Memphis SPH International Public Health Diplomacy Advisory Group, which brings together global health leaders, diplomats and policy experts dedicated to advancing the intersection of public health and international relations.

Dr. Silva is a medical doctor and public health specialist with over nine years of experience spanning clinical care, field epidemiology and health systems leadership. She currently serves as a resident in the Advanced Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP-Advanced/EpiSUS) at Brazil’s Ministry of Health.

As a former Public Health Specialist at the National Institute of Public Health in Cabo Verde, Janilza led national health security initiatives, emergency preparedness strategies and regional public health collaborations. Dr. Silva received her MD at Federal University of Uberlândia and an MPH in Management and Leadership from the University of Sheffield and has completed fellowships at the U.S. CDC and the University of Washington.

The responsibility of the advisory group is to offer strategic guidance, promote cross-border collaboration and help shape the Lab’s efforts to train future health diplomats.
