Dr. Ntuli Angyelile Kapologwe Joins SPH International Public Health Diplomacy Advisory Group
July 15, 2025 – Ntuli Angyelile Kapologwe, MD has joined the University of Memphis SPH International Public Health Diplomacy Advisory Group, which brings together global health leaders, diplomats and policy experts dedicated to advancing the intersection of public health and international relations.
Ntuli Angyelile Kapologwe, MD is a distinguished public health leader with over 20 years of experience in health systems management, reproductive health, health financing and global health diplomacy. He currently serves as the Director General of the East, Central, and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC), where he leads regional collaboration and advocacy across 30 African countries. Dr. Kapologwe holds an MD from the University of Dar es Salaam, an MPH from Tumaini University, an MBA in International Health Management from Swiss TPH and a PhD in Public Health Financing from the University of Dodoma. He has also completed executive leadership programs at Aalto University and the University of Washington.
He has held key leadership positions within Tanzania’s Ministry of Health and the President’s Office, where he oversaw the construction of over 3,800 primary health facilities, expanding healthcare access to 85% of the population. A digital health innovator, he co-developed the m-mama emergency transport system, credited with saving over 5,100 lives, and led efforts to deploy over 137,000 community health workers nationwide.
Dr. Kapologwe played a central role in achieving 95% COVID-19 vaccination coverage in Tanzania. Internationally, he has contributed to shaping the WHO Pandemic Treaty and revisions to the International Health Regulations. He is a founding member of the ECSA College of Public Health Physicians.
