Potential Field Placements

Is your agency interested in hosting a social work student field placement internship? All potential field agency sites must participate in a "Prospective Agency Meeting" with the field directors before the Clinical Affiliation process can be started. At this time, we are meeting potential agencies via Microsoft Teams. This meeting typically takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes, and is meant to gather basic information on what the agency does, what population is served, how the agency plans to utilize social work student interns, onboarding requirements, etc. .

In order to get the Clinical Affiliation Agreement process started, agencies need the following items completed:

  1. Potential Field Agency Form (Qualtrics survey)
  2. Field Instructor Information Sheet (Qualtrics survey - must upload resume to this)
  3. Book a Prospective Agency Meeting with the Field Team (available most Fridays 9:30 AM-12 NOON Central)

Once a prospective agency meeting has taken place, and these two forms (above) are completed, the clinical affiliation agreement (CAA) can be drafted and sent to the appropriate agency contact for review and signature. Once we receive the CAA back, it gets forwarded to our Procurement team, and then finalized.

Agencies should note that students may NOT begin their internships until the CAA is finalized by UofM Procurement and sent back to the agency. Additionally, an established CAA does not guarantee student interns with your agency; the Field Team places students based on best fit. We are not able to match student interns to every agency each semester/academic year.
