About Claire Carvajal

Claire Carvajal is the Assistant Technical Director. Born, raised and educated in Texas, she joined the University of Memphis in January of 2025.  

After graduating from The University of Texas at Austin in 2017, she taught middle school theatre and built a thriving program. Claire then moved to teach High School technical theatre and was promoted to lead the department. Her students competed in the UIL One Act Play Competition, were active members of Texas Thespians, and built a community of inclusion and compassion. Before coming here, she served as the Technical Director of a private school near Atlanta, Georgia.  

Claire values educational spaces that make students feel heard, seen, supported and inspires them to lead with empathy and curiosity. She believes that anything is possible on the stage, and loves being on the team to make that magic happen (through to-do-lists and hard work!). 

When Claire is not in the scene shop, she can be found outdoors exploring National Parks!
