Post Requests

Policy & Procedures

Establishing a University-sponsored account
Administrative offices, academic colleges, schools, departments and research units wishing to establish a University-sponsored social media account should contact us to begin the registration and recognition process. Account username, URL and bio must be approved and a brief orientation with the social media manager must be completed. Login information (username and password) will be kept on file. Facebook pages will be created or moved under the main UofM Meta Business Portfolio. Upon approval, channels will be added to the UofM Social Media Directory

  • Use a vanity email rather than an employee email (e.g. social@memphis.edu).
  • Start the account handle with "uofm" (in most cases).
  • Use searchable language in the bio; spell out acronyms.
  • Use same handle (e.g. @uofmemphis) across channels when possible.
  • Edit Facebook URL to include your handle (e.g. facebook.com/uofmemphis)

Maintenance of accounts
The user may create the new account subject to the terms of this policy and any requirements imposed as a condition of approval. We will periodically review approved sites and reserves the right to revoke or limit approval at any time at our discretion. Channels that have been inactive for more than one year and/or posted fewer than six times within an academic year will be evaluated and submitted for deletion.

University of Memphis doctoral student Angela Fynn was selected as one of just 25 students nationwide for the Ducks Unlimited Public Policy University Advocates Program bringing science-informed perspectives on wetland conservation directly to lawmakers in Washington, D.C.

Through this experience, Fynn deepened her understanding of the intersection between research and policy and strengthened her voice as an advocate for sustainable solutions.

“So often, our students are disconnected from what we learn in the classroom and how that can impact our daily lives,” said Dr. Shawn Brown, associate professor in the Department of Biological Sciences.

“These opportunities not only allow these connections but give students insight into how their education can serve them long after they are done at the University of Memphis by being agents for change.”

The position of student government president is a highly respected role and there is a special pride that one takes in being elected by their peers to lead. Bailey, who is majoring in Business Economics, is from Memphis.

He is a proud Spring 2024 initiate of Alpha Phi Alpha.

We interviewed Chris Bailey and talked to him about his position, goals, future and what it means to hold this type of leadership position in 2025–2026.

University High School (UHS) has partnered with Herff College of Engineering to give students hands-on research-driven learning experiences while earning college credit through dual enrollment courses.

“One of the most exciting aspects of this model is that it intentionally blends high school, college and workplace learning into a single experience,” said Lauren Beaupre, UHS coordinator of college and career planning.

Through this collaboration, students rotate through civil, mechanical, biomedical, electrical and computer research labs. Working alongside faculty and research teams allows students to see how ideas move from theory to application.

“When students step into a university research lab, engineering stops being an abstract concept and becomes something tangible,” Beaupre said. “For many students, that kind of experience is transformative. It helps them see themselves as future engineers."
