  • 3.26.2026 | 3:30-5:00 pm | UC Fountain View Room
    • Reception 3:30; Event 4:00-5:00
  • Join us for a thought-provoking lecture by Dr. Selina Makana (Dept. of History), who will put her newly released book Beyond the Battlefield: Women and the Nation in Twentieth-Century Angola into a broader transnational context by mapping the journey of the women's rights agenda since the 4th World Conference on Women in Beijing.
    • 2025 marked the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. This document provided a pivotal blueprint for women’s and girls’ rights across the globe. But, how far has the international community come in transforming the women’s rights agenda? This year’s Women’s History series takes a reflective journey, from a global South perspective, to understand how far women have come in creating a just and better world for themselves in times of renewed cultures of war and militarism, global economic disparities, and human rights abuses.
